Gabriela Ruíz founded in 2012 Vuelve Carmela in Tabasco, Mexico. In 2017 Carmela & Sal in Mexico City, a culinary concept focused on serving contemporary, high-quality Mexican dishes. Just a few months after the opening, Carmela y Sal won Best New Restaurant in México City by Food & Travel magazine. In 2019 Gabriela was named Chef of the year (Guía Culinaria Mexicana). She was also named by FORBES one of the 100 most powerful women; was on the list of the most Creative woman in Mexico by Architectural Digest Mexico; and was included as Nine Women Leading Mexico’s Cultural Renaissance on the World Stage by W magazine.
